Apologies… Server Catastrophe.

June 21st, 2009

Apologies… my site was down for almost two days. I was working on a catastrophic failure of one of the database hard drives. Fortunately, I had everything backed up and using RAID-1, mirroring on my server.

The site should be back up, but my email is still funky… still working that out. The domain controller that my Exchange 2007 server uses got hosed because, idiotically, I didn’t have a second domain controller. Lesson learned. But, the up-side is that there is no data lost though. Just a bunch of reconfiguring. No big deal.

New Slave Clutch Cylinder Installed

June 10th, 2009

I spent about an hour and a half working on removing the old slave clutch cylinder today after work. I discovered that the old slave clutch cylinder was indeed old and worn out. I read somewhere that if the fluid changes color quickly after you’ve flushed it out and bled it with brand new fluid, the old clutch cylinder is definitely going bad.

In my case, the fluid would immediately change as I was bleeding it. That is definitely a problem. So, now, with the new Luk slave cylinder I put on… it feels definitely new and the fluid color is remaining consistent and there are no leaks to call for yet. I drove the car around for quite a bit with the new slave clutch cylinder and it does feel much better. More consistent is more like it.

New Slave Clutch Cylinder On Order

June 4th, 2009

I just ordred a new slave clutch cylinder for my Miata. The one I have now is showing to be no good now because my fluid is changing colors quickly after using new fluid and it’s leaking. I am on the second rebuild of this clutch. I decided to get a brand new slave clutch cylinder to start over in that area. I got a Luk LSC184 slave cylinder for $27.99 via Autozone online. I also have some exhaust wrap on the way to wrap that one section to trap the heat in the piping. So that way it doesn’t fry the clutch cylinder or the piston seal.

Forum Online

May 25th, 2009

Folks,

I went through all requests and submissions that came in response to the request I made a week or two ago. I had asked everybody to present what they wanted to have out of this site. A majority by over 90% wanted a forum where they could exchange troubleshoots mainly on any aspect of the V8 Miata build.

So, here’s the forum for y’all to use. I’ve already created some forums for us to start with.

A/C Charged

May 20th, 2009

I just got my A/C system charged today. The same folks who did my A/C system recharged my Miata’s system. Now my Miata’s blowing cold air. The WaterWetter radiator cooler additive is proving itself once again. It is absolutely working in the sense of keeping the engine’s temperature under control. This was one of the problems I was having in my original engine build. But, I can safely say that at this point, I have learned a significant amount since the beginning. Mainly on how things should fall in place.

Anyway, I have cold air blowing again. Just in time because we’re seeing triple digit temperatures. It was over 110 last week. I drove my Miata in the middle of the afternoon a couple times without A/C. Just make sure you’re hydrated. That’s all.

Cheers.
