NOTE: Vacuum line isn’t connected.

View the video above… see the problem with the pressure dropping off so quickly… This is actually from two things: First, I’ve gotten the fuel pump issue sorted out and now all fingers point to the fuel pressure regulator.

Ok, here’s what happened with my new fuel pump and the connection…

A bit closer:

Now to prevent this from happening with the new fuel pump…

Chopped off the flange…
Cleaned up and left the layer flange on so the fuel pump tube has gripping ability.
Wham-bam! That’s it. Much better.

I ran the motor for about 5 minutes… shut it down. Now the pressure comes down extra slow.

7:18pm – Engine shut down @ 39 psi
7:34pm – Gauge reading 15psi – 16 minutes later
8:45pm – Gauge reading 6psi – 1 hour and 27 minutes later
9:02pm – Gauge reading 0psi – 1 hour and 44 minutes later
————————————-
Elapsed time: 1h 44m to reach zero.

This is absolutely much better than what it was before. It was dropping to zero in matter of seconds as shown in the video above. Now, I’m picking up an Aeromotive 13103 Fuel Pressure Regulator tomorrow from AMP Performance to further solve this pressure problem.

Day eight – Engine start up!

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Here’s the engine start up video that I promised. It’s a brief video but… I had a few failed tries only to discover that I had the distributor rotor on the opposite side of the #1 cylinder post. More like on the the #6 cylinder post of the distributor.

First of all, I have to say that the distributor rotor on the 302 HO motors turns COUNTER-CLOCKWISE and has the firing order of 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

Morning drive to work…

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Mmm-kay.

Looks like most of the wind noise was eliminated by just driving w/ the top up.

34 minutes long… I know. Who wants to drive with me to work? LOL. I thought so.

On-ramp light acceleration

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Hey folks. Here’s my first attempt at a video. It’s rough around some edges… but for those who wanna see a flick. Here it is. I don’t wanna hear how bad it is, or how sucky it is. I know it needs work. Cool? Mmm-K.

This flick is an on-ramp light acceleration in the high RPM’s at about 1/2 throttle, nothing beyond. Hitting about 90-95 MPH at the bottom of the on-ramp. I slowed down to about 75-85 MPH. The freeways and freeway structures in Arizona are huge and long – that’s why it seems a little slow. I was covering 3.2 miles in this video of 2 mins and 36 seconds.

This one was on the same bridge as the previous video. This chump in the white Impala has a V8 and he was trying to race me on the on-ramp. I wasn’t even pushing my engine that hard. At the most, 1/2 throttle was used. For you folks wanting to argue that I had an head start. Look at the distance I gained before the on-ramp was out, there is no way this dude would have beat me. Considering the fact I was only pushing 1/2 throttle. I got up to about 95 at the bottom of this on-ramp then slowed down to around 75. In Arizona, the on-ramp is about 1/4 mile on average.

Here’s a video from today.

I know there’s a minor popping sound in the background. You can hear it if you listen hard enough. Thats an exhaust leak. That’s because I have the wrong upper intake. The EGR port is completely unblocked.
